Modern day Maestro Matt Furie Has, Literally, hundreds of thousands of creations, but only a few truly transcend the flat surface of a paper and into the collective psyche of the population. Pepe, of course, is the most prominent of his works. But now comes a heir to that throne - proclaimed by none other than Matt Furie himself.
Introducing SCUMNUGGET!
Scumnugget was first conceptualized by Matt Furie in 2014 and has even appeared as a replacement strip for the Boys CLub in THEBELIEVER.net. Afterwards, Scumnugget has appeared in many of Matt Furie's works.
Scumnugget was meant as a critique of how commercialism has shaped our lives and how it dictates what we ought to be at the expense of what we want to become. Scumnugget is Matt's most meaningful character to date, a direct statement at the sad state of our world today.
$SCUM AIN'T NO SCAM!

In an interview dated June 25, 2014, Matt Furie Said That he was working on a brand new character that's absurdly based on a Chicken McNugget with a sad/angry personality.
That character made his first appearance later that same year with a painted piece depicting a hen laying Chicken nuggets instead of eggs - a metaphor of how commercialism has defined who we are and robbed us of any personal choice.
Up to this point, the character remained nameless but his personality was already well-established - grumpy, angry and nihilistic.
Towards the end of 2014, Matt Furie unveiled a new comic strip - one that temporarily replaced the iconic Boys Club - at thebeliever.net. The name of the strip was SCUMNUGGET, and it featured the very same chicken nugget character from his previous work. Thus, a name was finally assigned to the creation!
But that's not all!
As testament to how much Matt Furie loved this character, Scumnugget was supposed to be included in what could've been Matt's first syndicated animation series, DOBLE FRIED. The show was supposed to be shown on cartoon Network's Adult Swim. It was announced in 2015. Sadly, the show was cancelled midway into production.
Still, by the very name of the show - DOBLE FRIED - which means to fry twice, a cooking method used for chicken nuggets, it was very clear who the main star of this series would've been: SCUMNUGGET!
INDEED, Matt Furie always intended Scumnugget to be his breakout creation! In a way, he had greater plans for this character than his more renowned brainchild, Pepe the Frog. Whereas Pepe was the product of organic viral growth, Scumnugget was backed by deliberate attempts from the artist himself to propel him to superstardom!
